AERA-E: Counseling and Human Development Forum
The University of Notre Dame Classroom Engagement Project seeks a
post-doctoral fellow to work under the direction of Dr. Julianne Turner.
The fellow will take a leadership role in conducting a multi-year
intervention study in which the research team will collaborate with
middle school teachers and administrators to support the translation of
motivation theory into classroom instructional practices. The successful
fellow will have completed a Ph.D. in Educational or Developmental
Psychology and possess excellent methodological and statistical skills
as well as research experience in motivation and education.

Principal duties of the post doctoral fellow include:
* Oversee data collection, entry, and analysis for a longitudinal project
* Conduct data analysis: Quantitative (hierarchical linear modeling) and qualitative (content analysis)
* Work collaboratively with Dr. Turner, her research team, and participating teachers to implement and modify intervention.
* Participate in structured classroom observations of middle school teachers.
* Attend workshops, teacher meetings, and other intervention components
* Collaborate on publications
The post-doctoral fellow will be expected to participate fully in the intellectual life of the Psychology Department and provide mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students involved in the Classroom Engagement Project. Other opportunities available through the Psychology Department include weekly meetings of the Developmental Studies Group, the Quantitative Studies Group, and the Cognitive Studies groups, frequent visiting speakers, speakers from the Psychology Department and other departments on campus. The Psychology Department offers excellent statistical consulting services.
Candidates will be considered based upon demonstrated research skills, potential for impact, and match research program. Appointments will begin September 2010 for an initial period of one year; positions are eligible for renewal. Salary and benefits are competitive.
