The following is a position announcement for an extended search for the
Director, School of Human Development & Organizational Studies in Education
University of Florida-College of Education
The University of Florida-College of Education is seeking a Director for
its newly formed School of Human Development and Organizational Studies
in Education. This dynamic new unit offers Master’s, Specialist’s, and
Doctoral Degrees (Ph.D/Ed.D) in the following areas:
· Counseling and Counselor Education
· Educational Administration and Policy (includes the Principal
Certification program)
· Higher Education Administration
· Research and Evaluation Methods
· Student Personnel in Higher Education (Master’s only)
The Director will have overall responsibility for an academic unit that
has 30 full-time faculty and six staff members, as well as adjunct
faculty, graduate students, and student assistants. The candidate must
have a strong track record in the administration of nationally ranked
programs and the ability to bring all programs to this level; interest
in expanding programs statewide, nationally, and globally, especially
through distance education and online learning; willingness to establish
and build collaborative partnerships with school districts and community
groups; prior experience in procuring and managing externally funded
research projects; interest in developing cross-disciplinary programs
and initiatives; and experience working in culturally and linguistically
diverse environments. The successful candidate for this position should
have a distinguished record of teaching, scholarship, and professional
service commensurate for an appointment as a tenured Professor in a
Research Extensive University. The Director reports to the Dean of the
College of Education. Salary is negotiable based on experience and the
applicant’s credentials.
