$50,000 Post-Doc Fellowship

NATIONAL ACADEMY OF EDUCATION/SPENCER
2002-2003 POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS

DESCRIPTION

National Academy of Education/Spencer Postdoctoral
Fellowships are designed to promote scholarship in the United
States and abroad on matters relevant to the improvement of
education in all its forms.

QUALIFICATIONS

·       Applicants must have received their Ph.D., Ed.D., or
equivalent research degree between January 1, 1996, and
December 31, 2001.

·       Applications from all disciplines are encouraged,
provided that they describe research relevant to education.

·       Applications must be made by the individual applying for
the Fellowship; group applications will not be accepted.

·       Applications will be judged on the applicant's past
research record, the promise of early work, and the quality
of the project described in the application.

·       Employees of the Spencer Foundation or the National
Academy of Education are not eligible to apply.

·       Concurrent funding for the proposed project is not
permitted.

F FELLOWSHIP AWARDS

·       Fellows will receive $ 50,000 for one academic year of
research, or $ 25,000 for each of two contiguous years,
working half-time.

·       Fellowships must begin during the 2002-2003 academic
year.

·       Fellows will be included in professional development
retreats with other fellows and Academy members.

·       Up to thirty Postdoctoral Fellowships will be awarded in
2002.

·       Selection will be made by a committee composed of
members of the National Academy of Education.

·       Awardees will be notified in May 2002.
