The Iowa State University Department of Educational
Leadership and Policy Studies is seeking nominations and
applications for three tenure-track professorial positions
(open rank) in the Educational Administration program area
for the 2002-2003 academic year. Responsibilities include
teaching graduate courses in two or more of the following
areas: school law, curriculum, the principalship,
administrative theory, community/interagency partnerships,
policy, finance, instructional supervision, the
superintendency, technology, and finance; maintaining an
active research and scholarly agenda; securing external
funding; advising Masterís and Ph.D. students; serving on
dissertation committees; and providing service and outreach
to local, state, and national educational leaders.
For the rank of Assistant Professor, an earned doctorate in
Educational Administration or closely related field is
required. For Associate/Full Professor, requirements in
addition to the doctorate include an established record of
scholarly publications, excellence in classroom instruction,
and experience chairing dissertation research, sufficient to
justify appointment at the appropriate rank. Preferred
qualifications include successful PreK-12 administrative
experience or equivalent and record of extramural funding.
The Juris Doctorate also is desirable for teaching school
law. It is anticipated that at least one position will be
filled at the senior level.
The successful candidates will join an educational
administration program with a strong tradition of preparing
practitioners and academicians. The program has an active
statewide presence, with Masters principal preparation
cohorts in strategic Iowa locations, a Certificate of
Advanced Studies superintendent licensure program, and a PhD
program serving approximately 40 doctoral students.
Instruction occurs both on- and off-campus and via distance
learning. The program is state accredited, with nationally
recognized faculty members. ISU is a member of the University
Council of Educational Administration and is classified by
the Carnegie Foundation as a Doctoral-ResearchExtensive
institution.

continue until the positions are filled. The targeted
