UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS AT URBANA-CHAMPAIGN: The Division of
Quantitative and Evaluative Research Methodologies within The
Department of Educational Psychology seeks a full-time
tenure-track faculty member (Assistant Professor or advanced
Assistant Professor) specializing in educational measurement
or quantitative methods.
For specialization in educational measurement, we are looking
for a scholar with expertise in both classical and modern
test theories, with a particular emphasis on item response
theory and its applications. Expertise in computerized
adaptive testing would be desirable. For specialization in
quantitative methods, area of interest is open and includes
measurement, statistics, or research design. In addition to
strengths in research/scholarship, the individual we seek
should have a commitment to teaching, supported by an
aptitude for effectively presenting complex technical content
in a clear and comprehensible manner.
Responsibilities: The individual will teach primarily
graduate-level courses in educational measurement and
statistics; advise and supervise masters' and doctoral
students; and develop additional courses and/or seminars
related to his or her own special interests and expertise.
This person will be expected to develop and maintain an
active program of basic and applied scholarship in
measurement, including maintaining a commitment to securing
external funding for that research. He or she will
participate in college, university, and community service or
outreach activities, and contribute to the work of relevant
state and national professional organizations.
Qualifications: This person must have a doctorate in
psychometrics, educational/psychological measurement, or a
closely related area; strong evidence of the potential for
making significant scholarly contributions. In addition,
competence in the use of technology for instruction and
assessment is important, as are expertise and experience with
item analysis and calibration software and major statistical
packages such as SPSS and SAS.
Salary will be competitive and commensurate with the
individual's level and experience.
The position is expected to begin August 21, 2002.
