Dear AERA Foucault and Education SIG Colleagues,
If you are getting this message you have, at one time or another, been
a member of the Foucault and Education SIG of the AERA.
As some of you may be aware, at the SIG Business Meeting at the 2009
AERA Conference, we discussed the future of the SIG. Because of
changes in session allocation protocols last year, our SIG was only
allocated the SIG Business Meeting and ONE Roundtable Session this
year. Given this outcome, we gathered at our Business Meeting to
consider the future of the Foucault and Education SIG and whether we
should redevelop it under a new name that would capture a broader
academic audience without losing the core values around which it was
originally organized. The consensus was that we should redevelop our
SIG.
Linda Graham is working on the name change part of this redevelopment
and I am working on the communications part of this. Through this
newly established listserv, you will receive more information from
both Linda and me as we move forward.

regrowing the SIG in new and innovative directions.
Best,
Chris

"What are the standards that we have? If we're concerned about
unarmed truth--understanding this condition of truth is allowing
suffering to speak--and unconditional love--understanding justice is
what love looks like in public--then the question is, what suffering
voices do we hear...and what kinds of concerns about justice are made
manifest...?
