Hello. Robert,

Thank you for reading my article: Freedom and Empowerment: A Reasonable
Pedagogy of Educational Reform. It is so good to know that all the research and effort in writing an article is not only read, but responded to by another educator.

I will think about the question that you asked and will get back to you. I read Jennifer Gore's article which is referenced in my article. She has done other work, which I will try to locate. Have you considered using students' literacy autobiographies and children's literature with your preservice students? Would any articles that I have read in these areas be of interest to you?

Please keep me informed as to what you decide to do and if you locate information on your topic. I am still interested in improving my instruction. We must remember: "Power is all around us." I am interested in what you decide to do.

Best wishes in narrowing your topic, so you can start.

Thank you,
Roberta

Subject: Foucault and Literacy research

Roberta,

I teach primary/elementary literacy methods (among other subjects like
multiculturalism, etc.) to preservice teachers. I am interested in
employing Foucault's methods to research literacy (not sure what specific
topic yet). I have been reading literature on literacy via sociocultural
theory and it seems to be a good fit with Foucault. I was wondering if you
know of any research/researchers that work in litercy via Foucault? I've
read work by Dawnene Hassett who does use Foucault's methods to
investigate litercy, but I would like more. I appreciate any information.

Thank you,
Robert

P.S. I'm reading your article Freedom and Empowerment: A Transforative
Pedagogy of Educational Reform. It's very interesting. Thank you for
writing it.
