GSC 2014 Elections: Call for Self-Nominations
Are you interested in running for an American Education Research Association Graduate Student Council Office?
AERA GSC is a great way to get involved, network and learn more about AERA. If you’d like to work with a great group of graduate students from across the world, to serve the 7,000+ graduate students in AERA, we hope you will consider running. Self-nominations are due September 30, 2014 and are open for the four elected positions on the Graduate Student Council:
1. Chair-Elect
2. Newsletter Editor
3. Secretary Historian
4. Web Secretary
To run, please submit the following materials by midnight EST, September 30, 2014 via web form through this URL: http://goo.gl/BlFyIG
- Basic Information:
· Full Name
· University affiliation
· Degree you are currently pursuing
· Anticipated graduation date
· Position you are running for
· Faculty advisor name, phone, and email (Your advisor may be contacted to answer some basic questions about your qualifications for the position for which you are running, so please ensure address is valid and working.)
- Statement of interest (saved as FullNameStatement.pdf) of approximately 300-700 words addressing:
· The reasons you would like to run
· Why you believe you would be a good candidate for the position
· What you will bring to the GSC
- Current CV (saved as FullNameCV.pdf)
Elections Process and Timeline
- Self-Nominations (by September 30)
- Slate Selection by Nomination Committee (mid October)
- Notification to candidates regarding status (late October)
- Biographical statements of slated candidates submitted to AERA central office (mid November)
- Elections (January 2015)
- Winner notified of results (March 2015)
