Call for Submissions
Graduate Student Council 2015 Graduate Student In-Progress Research Session Description The Graduate Student Council (GSC) is seeking graduate students who are interested in sharing their inprogress research with attendees at the 2015
AERA meeting. The purpose of this session is to give graduate students who have not had an opportunity to present at AERA a chance to present in a professional setting as well as receive constructive peer feedback. Participants in the GSC Graduate Student
In-Progress Research Session will have the opportunity to present their in-progress research during a roundtable session, as well as network with researchers and peers from across various fields.
In-progress works may include research proposals, literature reviews, conceptual/theoretical pieces, and research projects not yet completed. All proposals must adhere to the annual meeting theme: Toward
Justice: Culture, Language, and Heritage in Education Research and Praxis. Proposals will undergo a peer-review process based on relevance to the annual meeting theme, strength and importance of the research question(s), strength of
the conceptual or theoretical framework, appropriateness of the proposed data analyses, and strength of potential impact on the field.
Graduate students submitting proposals will know by January 19, 2015 if their proposals were selected to participate in the GSC In-Progress Research Session. Please note that preference will be given to first and second year graduate
students who are not working on their thesis/dissertation. Participants will also be required to confirm their attendance at the session by February 2, 2015. A preliminary schedule for the session will be disseminated on March 2, 2015.
Participants will be responsible for preparing a handout, based on their in-progress research proposal, and a 10 minute discussion, which will be presented at the GSC In-Progress Research Session. It is expected that participants will
register for the AERA Annual Meeting, attend the GSC In-Progress Research Session, and be available during the session to discuss and answer questions related to their in-progress research project.
